Blaze kills 39 at migrant detention center in Mexico

At least 39 people were killed in a fire that broke out late Monday at a migrant detention facility in the northern Mexican border city of Ciudad Juárez, in what The Washington Post called "one of the deadliest tragedies in years involving foreigners crossing Mexico to reach the United States."  The fire started shortly before 10 p.m., the National Immigration Institute (INM) said in a statement. At least 68 men from Central and South America stayed at the center in Ciudad Juárez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, the institute stated. I find cooking and baking therapeutic. After working on business all day, going into my kitchen is sometimes the best way to take my mind off things. U.S. to crack down on guns going south while Mexico works to stop fentanyl heading north, report says

The United States will announce a deal with Mexico to stop illicit substances from crossing the southern border, NBC News reported Monday, with Americans working to halt the flow of guns into Mexico while the Mexican government cracks down on fentanyl moving into the U.S. Two sources familiar with the deal told NBC that the Mexican military and police will focus on stopping the raw materials used to create fentanyl. This will include "shutting down labs that make the deadly synthetic opioid and going after key players in the illicit fentanyl trade," the sources said.
