Sans commute, watercooler breaks, and meetings that require moving from your desk to a conference table, it’s easy for your day to feel like one long slog. As remote work continues to be the new normal, a bit of creativity is necessary to prevent working from home from turning into living at work—and the right playlist can do wonders. Just because you’re stuck in the same space all day doesn’t mean you can’t change the ambience at the drop of a hat (or the tap of a play button). You might already have your perfect WFH playlist—the one that keeps you focused and energized throughout the day. But when it’s time to shut your laptop, enjoy dinner, and get ready...
For months, Crystal Cruises had been responding to the coronavirus crisis by canceling voyages a few weeks at a time. After halting all departures in March, the well-known luxury cruise operator initially planned to resume trips in the spring, then the summer, then the fall. The line’s comeback never seemed far off. The first Crystal voyage now available for booking isn’t until Jan. 5, 2021. For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up...
Don’t know what to do this weekend? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Pull up a seat to the counter, and I’ll tell you about everything that’s hot and happening. The question arises of how Theophrastus came upon a cycad (SIGH-cad) in the first place,...
Being a rumination on geezer self-defense. I should be ready after two careers in crime. My first career, as a judge, was about crime in a direct sense. My second career, as a criminal justice professor, was about crime in a less direct way. I was determined that my retirement would not be about crime. Retirement? Don’t roll your eyes — your time will come. An early clue will be when some kid gives you the senior discount before you ask. An even earlier clue is when you start calling thirty-somethings “kids.” When my wife and I put the clues together, we started considering where to retire rather than if. With public policy becoming more an exercise in meanness every...
