Get free food at the airport: Which cards offer Priority Pass restaurant access?

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information. Airport lounge access is one of my favorite credit card benefits. You can get free food and drinks while waiting in a more comfortable area before your flight. However, some lounges aren’t great. And their food offerings may be little more than a pack of Oreos. If you need to grab a meal at the airport before a flight, you could pay a small fortune. However, a lesser-known credit card benefit could help you score a free meal for yourself and for your traveling companions. Here’s a look at credit cards that offer visits to Priority Pass restaurants, where you could pick up a free lunch before your...

The Boozy Après-Ski Tradition Arrives Stateside as More Americans Hit the Slopes

Inside the bar, the music is bumping, turned up to maximum volume as bartenders rush to get drinks into the hands of thirsty guests. It’s a madhouse, raucous shouting coming from all directions as the dance floor’s neon lights cast a luminescent glow on the bodies below. The scene recalls the rowdiest nightclubs of Barcelona when the hour nears 3 a.m. Only, rather than 3 a.m. in Barcelona, it’s 3 p.m. in Zermatt, Switzerland. We’re on the side of a mountain and the party’s just getting started. Halfway down one of the final runs on the bottom section of the Furi-Zermatt slope lies Hennu Stall, a snow-capped wooden cabin with hundreds of abandoned skis piled outside. The owners of said...

Chana Masala

Recipe from Indian Healthy Recipes. Wanted to cook warm hearty food. Was thinking about a Thai tofu curry, but pivoted to chana masala as I wanted to try to cook with dried beans. Ingredients 1 C chana (dried raw chickpeas) 1 1/2 C water 2 T oil 1 small bay leaf 1 inch cinnamon 2 cloves 2 green cardamoms 1 1/2 C finely chopped onion 1 green chili chopped 1 T ginger garlic paste 1 1/2 C tomatoes (finely chopped, 3 large or 1 1/2 C tomato puree) 3/4 t salt...

In Mexico, worry that Maya Train will destroy jungle

Miguel Ángel Díaz walks slowly so his footfall on dry leaves doesn’t drive away what he’s trying to find in this dense forest of seeded breadnut and sapodilla trees. Coming to a small wetland, a sign warns: Beware of the crocodile. Díaz, a tourist guide, shines a laser pointer at a woodpecker and a toucan, and then moves it over to the blue tail of a Yucatecan jay. He learned years ago to decipher the sounds of the Calakmul jungle in Mexico’s southern Yucatan. Although it’s high season, this recent morning Díaz had a hard time finding tourists to guide. Last year, just over 50,000 visitors came to Calakmul, home to an ancient Mayan city that today is a UNESCO...
