REVIEW – I’ve talked before about how reliant we Gadgeteers are on power.  We love gadgets and gadgets love power.  How about a gadget that doesn’t run on power – it creates power!  Let’s take a look at the SunJack 25W foldable ETFE monocrystalline solar panel charger with two 10,000mAh power bank batteries system.  How’s that for a mouthful? What is it? Basically, it is a solar panel.  It is constructed using ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) – a fluorine-based plastic. ETFE is highly corrosion-resistant, and more importantly, can withstand exposure to high temperatures.  This is certainly important for a product designed to be left out baking all day in bright sunlight. ETFE is also up to 95% ultraviolet (UV) permeable, meaning...

The new film Space Jam: A New Legacy serves as nothing less than a feature-length definition of the word “dispiriting” for the year 2021

While it is not entirely inaccurate to acknowledge that this could’ve been worse, because the early trailers promised an absolute disaster — a kids’-film version of Cats — that is an insultingly low bar for a movie to clear. Space Jam: A New Legacy may not be quite as horrible as it looked, but it’s still quite bad and a dark sign of a future in which movie studios treat actors as props and as easily, digitally replaceable as any other part of a CGI world. If you know the original Space Jam, which marks its 25th anniversary this year (a phrase that should send a chill down the spine of any elder millennial), then you know the basic outline of...

REVIEW – I was introduced to stand mixers over 17 years ago while creating a wedding registry at Target.  The eye-watering price of the brands available back then was a shock, and many of the units on the market still cost a small fortune

However, our wedding-gift stand mixer has lasted all these years, lending credence to the saying “you get what you pay for”. These days there are cheaper versions of everything, including stand mixers apparently. GEFT (I hadn’t heard of them either, who can keep track of the exponentially growing list of Chinese manufacturers these days?) sent over their latest stand mixer, a 6 – quart stainless-and-plastic affair, so I took it for a spin and see if it holds up. I’ll try to keep the puns to a minimum, my apologies. What is it? The GEFT Stand Mixer is an affordable stand food mixer. It allows you to mix doughs and other ingredient slops for baking in a much easier format...

Best adjustable desks: Stand or sit with double-duty office furniture

To stand or not to stand? The choice is yours with an adjustable desk. (Hillary Black via Unsplash/) All bodies are not created equal, so any desk where we park ours for much of the day should offer some level of personalization. But most of us sit at the same desk despite what’s most comfortable for us individually (and we probably have no idea that things could be different). Enter: adjustable desks. The best adjustable desks will accommodate varying heights and body types of multiple users. You can maneuver height adjustable desks by lifting and lowering them to suit whatever you happen to be doing or your mood on any given day. Do you like standing during virtual meetings, but...

Having used and abused the Mystery Ranch Dragonslayer for a number of years now, I was excited to test out the Terraframe 50

This is the smallest of the packs that fit on the Terraframe chassis which also comes in a 65L and 80L. For most of my hunting the 50L is probably overkill (PTP) as I generally only day hunt and sleep at the vehicle. However, the Terraframe outperforms the other day packs I’ve used because of the external frame and a meat shelf/load sling (OVERLOAD®) between the frame and the pack. This allows for a compressed pack size while hunting but offers the ability to pack out (meat) up to 68kg (150 lbs). Because the pack is separate and sealed your gear does not have to be strapped to the outside of the pack, exposing it to the elements, or remain in the pack with the meat to be...
