These are solid cast iron and heavy duty.
The color is an antiqued bronze-look which inhibits rust. The Pelican wall hooks are shinier than the plaque.
If you prefer a different color, you can easily paint to the color of your choice with spray paints or acrylics. Many people like the distressed look. You can achieve this by spraying a base coat color and lightly rubbing a secondary color on top with acrylics.
