Local Craft Brewery, Free Roam Brewery in Boerne, Debuts a New Brew For Charity
Boerne Brewery, a local craft Brewery called Free Roam Brewery, is debuting a new brew to benefit the Purple Heart Project.
Free Roam Brewery, located at 325 S. Main St. in Boerne, has partnered with the local eatery, Compadres Hill Country Cocina, for a very special beer release benefiting the Purple Heart Project on Saturday, January 7th at 6pm. Guests will be able to enjoy the brew throughout the month, while available.
The brewery, founded by the San Francisco Giants three-time world champion Jeremy Affeldt, along with General Manager Brandon Phillips & Brewmaster Jaron Shepherd, has always made it a point to give back to their community since their founding in 2020. Part of the brewery’s Give Back Initiative & the first of several special releases for 2023, the trio has teamed up with veteran Chef Mark of Compadres Hill Country Concina to present a brew dedicated to our Armed Forces to benefit the Purple Heart Project.
The brew, dubbed 40 Mike Mike after the military slang for the Mark-19 Automatic 40mm Grenade Launcher, is a Texas-style bock boasting a 4.7% ABV and featuring notes of caramel & sweetness attributed to the addition of purple corn & crystal malt.
The brewery would like to invite patrons out for a taste of the latest brew. A portion of each beer sold will go directly to the Purple Heart Project, a division of the Purple Heart Honor Mission, dedicated to the support of combat-injured veterans throughout the US as well as education for the general public for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to our country.

Guests can enjoy Free Roam Brewery’s eight rotating beers Monday – Sunday from 11am-12am. Guests can enjoy fun weekly events at the brewery such as Sunday Yoga, Tacos Trivia Tuesdays, and Live Music every weekend. In addition, patrons can enjoy food from local food trucks such as Lupe’s Mex Tex & Open Wide throughout the week.
