Exclusive: Kendall Jenner’s 818 Is Releasing Tequila-Infused Chocolate For the Holidays

Kendall Jenner's family takes the holidays very seriously. There's the annual Christmas Eve party, which has in the past seen a performance by Sia and a full-scale snow slope with Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton whizzing by. Just the other day, Kylie Jenner shared a video of her towering two-story tree that made her ornaments look like teeny specks of glitter. And so, the runway-strutting Jenner is getting in on the festivities in her own way, with tequila.

Following the launch of her 818 Tequila last year, the model is releasing her first holiday product: Toffee and Tequila, a chocolate bar in collaboration with Compartés Chocolatier. The boozy confection is infused with the brand's reposado offering. Its milk chocolate base is spruced up with toffee, sea salt flakes, and hints of vanilla and caramel.

This is the first tequila bar for Compartés. The Los Angeles-based gourmet brand, which dates back to 1950, boasts a list of celebrity clientele and was recently featured in an episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." Last year, Chrissy Teigen released a line of Compartés chocolate bars inspired by her family. (See: the carrot cake bar, a nod to the cake at her wedding to John Legend.)

Jenner launched the spirits brand in the spring of 2021 as her siblings tackled clothing and cosmetics. The current 818 lineup includes tequila blanco, reposado, and añejo, with prices ranging from $45 to $69. Jenner also recently launched Eight Reserve, a more premium añejo aged eight years with a $200 price tag and an artful bottle that practically doubles as home decor.

The tequila is produced in Amatitán, in the Mexican state of Jalisco known for its distilleries. As the industry faces agave shortages and increasing production costs, however, there's been some criticism of celebrity-owned tequila brands, of which there are now many: George Clooney notably founded Casamigos with Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman in 2013. It later sold to Diageo for $1 billion and was this year named the fastest-growing spirits brand. Dwayne Johnson also joined the industry in 2020 with his Teremana Tequila.

Perhaps in response, 818 partnered with the nonprofit Sacred to launch the 818 Bricks Program, which makes bricks out of leftover agave fibers that are then used to build community infrastructure in the region. It's also currently working towards B Corporation certification, granted to for-profits with high standards of "social and environmental performance." (Patagonia and Ben & Jerry's are among the existing B Corps.)

"As tequila continues to grow in popularity, this collaboration showcases how perfect our delicious 818 Reposado is both for gifting and for gathering with people you love," Jenner said in a press release. Jonathan Grahm, the Compartés creative director and chief chocolate-maker, said, "This toffee and tequila bar is warming, festive and evokes thoughts of a magical holiday eve in each bite."

The Compartés 818 Toffee and Tequila chocolate bar is officially available online for $9.95. Shop it ahead.
