Dine 909: Local brewery skewers Bud Light controversy

Lake Arrowhead Brewing Company is thumbing its nose at the recent Anheuser-Busch controversy.

The mountain brewery has packaged its Pride Beer this year in cans resembling Bud Light cans.

The beer, described as a Rainbow Sherbet Sour, has flavors of raspberry, orange and lime with just a hint of vanilla, and clocks in at 7% alcohol by volume.

The cans are emblazoned with the phrase: “This beer is brewed for everyone.”

The vast majority of comments on the brewery’s Instagram post announcing the beer were positive, though there were a handful of commenters who were clearly upset by the beer.

However, the brewery has brewed a pride beer — sharing the profits with an LGBTQ+ nonprofit — every June.

This year, the brewery is going local, sharing a portion of proceeds with Pride Lake Arrowhead.

The brewery’s Pride Beer is available on tap and in 16-ounce four-packs to go while supplies last.

Lake Arrowhead Brewing Company, 329 Villa Way, is open daily.

Taste of Haven returns

Taste of Haven is returning Saturday, June 10, to Haven City Market in Rancho Cucamonga.

The event, set for noon-8 p.m., allows attendees to sample various items from 19 of food hall’s eateries.

Tasting items range from savory to sweet, and also include alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Examples include a pork adobo rice bowl from Belly N Snout, a quesabirria taco from Ibasa Tacos & Elotes and a slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza from Brick Shack Pizza.

A handful of restaurants are offering upgraded two-ticket tastings, including Shrimp Shack Cajun Fusion, which is offering a shrimp taco, Cajun noodles and a medium drink in exchange for two tickets, as well as a shrimp taco for one ticket.

There will be live music all day long.

Cost is $35 (plus a $5.10 service fee if purchased online) for six tasting tickets.

Haven City Market is at 8443 Haven Ave.

New at Haven City Market

Speaking of Haven City Market, the Rancho Cucamonga food hall has added another eatery.

Potato Corner, which offers a selection of fried potatoes, including curly fries, French fries and tater tots, along with baked potatoes and chicken tenders, wings and poppers is now open.

It’s also home to the “World’s Best Flavored French Fries,” according to its website.

The chain also has locations in Montclair Place, Ontario Mills and the Moreno Valley Mall.

Haven City Market is open 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. daily.

New in Riverside

During a recent sushi lunch with a friend, I spotted a new crêperie in Riverside.

P.S. I Crêpe You is now open at 6095 Magnolia Ave.

The shop offers a variety of sweet crêpes, along with coffee drinks, teas, hot chocolate and shakes.

Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Now open in San Bernardino

The restaurant that replaced the longtime Pablo’s Taco Bender, which closed just over a month ago, in San Bernardino has opened.

Signage was up briefly indicating the restaurant was going to be E & A Tacos, however, the sign was changed recently to Lamberto’s Mexican Food.

The sign’s logo reads “Lamberto’s E & A.”

A Lamberto’s was previously located at 250 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, before it was destroyed in a fire. Oldtimers will remember the location as the former J’s Restaurant.

Lamberto’s, 1232 W. Base Line, is open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
