Latino parishioners from St. Edward Catholic Church in Corona kept the custom alive, staging their Christmas Posadas Navideñas on Friday, Dec. 16, through Friday, Dec. 23, for a total of nine days.

Posadas, which originated in Spain and became a yearly celebration throughout Latin American countries, typically involves a procession at the church or neighborhood with children, family or church members often playing the parts of Mary, Joseph and other characters in the nativity story.

The event concluded with a Mass and cultural foods, such as tamales, churros and hot chocolate.
