Recessed lights: Recessed lights are installed in ceilings, and their wires are hidden in the ceiling. They can provide atmospheric general lighting. Wall sconces: Wall sconces are one of the most decorative types of lighting fixtures. They are usually installed at eye level and placed in pairs in a room or hallway a room. However, they aren’t powerful enough to light a large room. 2. Task lighting
Task lights with direct, intense illumination are excellent for completing tasks such as reading and writing at a desk, hobbies, and crafts. You can add some chic table lamps and floor lamps to your apartment’s living room or bedroom. Common task lights include:
Desk and table lamps: When you need to read, write, or complete any home office work, desk lamps can provide the right amount of brightness. Pendants and swag lights: Pendant lighting and lights attached to swag hooks hang from the ceiling. They shine light downwards and can provide both task and ambient lighting. Common locations for pendant lighting include dining room tables and above kitchen islands. Swing-arm lamps: Swing-arm lamps are adjustable and lightweight. You can get a wall-mounted swing-arm lamp or a desk swing-arm lamp. Since these lamps are portable, they can be ideal for task lighting in your apartment. 3. Accent lighting
Accent lighting is meant for drawing attention to a particular object or area. Some accent lights can be up to three times brighter than ambient lights. These lights include:
Track lighting: Track lights, which are connected to one another via a track, are suspended from the ceiling and have several adjustable light heads. Many kitchens and living rooms may have track lighting, which is good for general illumination. Spotlights: Similar to track lighting, spotlights can be standalone lights or have a few adjustable heads. Spotlights can be mounted on ceilings or walls. They can make a room look bright or help to highlight an area or object. Picture lights: Picture lights are good for highlighting artwork and other living room decorations. Up-lights: You can add some accent lights by uplighting your room. Up-lights are positioned near your floor and shine upwards, thus lighting up your room with a pillar-like effect. You’ve probably seen uplighting for events and weddings, and they can make your room appear more spacious.
