A Paddleboard Adventure to Climb in Spain’s Mont-Rebei Gorge

This story was originally published by Climbing.com.  Grunting with the weight, we lift heavy packs and inflatable paddleboards onto our backs for the hike into Spain’s Mont-Rebei Gorge. Though it’s still early in the morning, the heat from the surrounding hillsides and cliffs radiates outwards, making us sweat. As we round the first corner, we stop to stare in wonder. Where’s all the water? The Noguera Ribagorçana river, separating Aragon from Catalonia, should be just feet away. Instead it’s far below us. Listen To Me: Start Your Audiobooks All Over Again

Many readers, when they hear about audiobooks for the first time, or when someone encourages them to try them out, often show concern about the medium. They worry that consuming a book in this manner will be something difficult to do, or not give them the same joy reading in print does. I completely empathise with this worry, and I accept that audiobooks aren’t for everyone. Review says Canada Soccer mishandled sexual harassment allegations against coach

An independent review has concluded that Canada Soccer “mishandled” sexual harassment allegations in 2008 against then under-20 women’s coach Bob Birarda, who is currently awaiting sentencing on sexual assault charges. The 125-page report by McLaren Global Sport Solution, commissioned by Canada Soccer, paints a picture of a governing body “described by many as being dysfunctional and inefficient,” with “significant leadership upheaval and transition at the highest levels” in 2007 and 2008. It concludes a “complete lack of familiarity” with the harassment policy amongst Canada Soccer senior officials in 2008 and that “harassment was not a priority issue amongst the senior CSA (Canadian Soccer Association) leadership team” at the time. It also says there was a lack of oversight over the...

What are Most Usual Milestones for a 4 Year Old?

There are many interesting stages that children will experience early in their lives. While some of these might represent personal triumphs, others can help parents and teachers track the overall developmental process of the child in question. There are actually numerous milestones that will occur at a very young age. Let us examine some of the most notable.  Performance Milestones Children will begin to develop a host of new abilities that were previously unknown to them. Some of these are purely physical in nature. Examples include skipping rope, hopping on one foot, walking down a flight of stairs without adult assistance, and being able to dress themselves. Others involve spatial and observational tasks. For example, most four-year-old children should be...
